The chairman of the Kerry Law Society has claimed people convicted of drink-driving regularly have the imposition of their driving bans postponed by district court judges in the county on foot of requests from defending solicitors.
This was the case especially if the person pleaded guilty and was co-operative, according to Mr Pat Mann. It was up to the individual judge and each case had its circumstances.
His comments came after Judge Leo Malone granted a postponement of a four-year driving ban to a man found to be three times over the limit in August of last year.
