Contraband cigarettes with an estimated street value of €360,000 have been seized by customs officers in Waterford Port today.

The 1.2 million 'Super King' cigarettes were concealed in a container on vessel that arrived from Rotterdam, Holland.

The haul posed a potential loss to the revenue of approximately €290,000.

A Revenue statement said: "The find resulted from risk profiling. Enquiries are continuing."
