We’re all familiar with outrageous and sometimes wonderful Christmas displays around neighbours' houses and front gardens.

Some go to great lengths to heighten a sense of festive fun in their locality for these dark December days. Some have great taste; others perhaps less so.

Some guarantee themselves headache electricity bills in the New Year.

The Irish Times is offering you the chance to nominate your favourite festive fantasia with a prize of five tickets to Cinderella at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin, on January 3rd next.

Closing date for photographed entries is noon on December 17th and the winning picture will be published along with a selection of other entries in a gallery on irishtimes.com. The winner will be notified that day and the tickets posted to them.

Please email entries to christmaspic@irishtimes.com along with your name. Photographs should be shot in landscape format, and be no more than 2MB in size.
