A policeman shot dead five people in a family dispute at a bath house and was then killed by paramilitary police on Tuesday in China's Liaoning province, police said.
A police official said Mr Zhang Guoyu (35) was gunned down by armed police troops when he refused to surrender. "Obviously it was a family feud," he said.
Those killed included the mother and sister-in-law of his fiancée and her daughter from a previous marriage and a worker at the bath house, he said. The other victim's indentity had not been established.
