Beijing - Fourteen members of a notorious Chinese crime ring were executed yesterday as part of China's "strike hard" campaign against crime, writes Miriam Donohoe.
The group, which included gang leaders Zhang Jun and Li Zejun, were found guilty of a series of robberies and 28 murders between June 1991 and September 2000. They were also blamed for illegally buying, selling and stealing guns and ammunition. The gang members were executed in Chongqing Municipality in south-west China and Changde City in central China. They had been sentenced to death during public trials on April 21st.
