A two-year-old child has been found dead in a buggy on a beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

A two-year-old child has been found dead in a buggy on a beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

The body was found off Coppet Hall Point near the holiday resort of Tenby this morning.

It is believed the child, whose sex is not yet known, may have been left overnight. Police say the child is believed to be of Caribbean or African origin.

Rescue services, including inshore lifeboats and an RAF Sea King helicopter, have been sent to the area to carry out a search of the sea and shoreline for anyone who may have been with the toddler.

The search is being co-ordinated by Milford Haven coastguard.

An investigation into the incident is being carried out by Dyfed-Powys Police at Tenby who have issued an appeal for information from members of the public.
