A major emergency plan was put on standby early yesterday when a fire broke out at a chemical plant in Cork.

A major emergency plan was put on standby early yesterday when a fire broke out at a chemical plant in Cork.

The Sisco turbine components factory, in Mahon industrial estate, was evacuated after the fire started at 2.40 a.m. in its store room which was close to a quantity of dangerous chemicals. There were no injuries or chemical leakage.
