Dutch international Mark van Bommel is being tracked by Chelsea, the player himself claimed today.

The PSV Eindhoven star is viewed as a cheaper alternative to Brazilian star Emerson whose club Roma yesterday rejected a £17.5 million bid from Chelsea.

Van Bommel told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: "The ambitions of the club (Chelsea). . .are looking great. I will speak with them only after the clubs have reached an agreement."

"But their ambitions sound good. Chelsea at last want to make a real effort to win the championship and they want to have a serious role in the Champions League too."

PSV will seek at least £10 million for their player.
