Irish chef Conrad Gallagher will not opposeextradition to Ireland on theft charges when heappears in a New York court tomorrow, a USprosecutor has said.

Mr Gallagher is being held in a Brooklyn prisonafter he was arrested on Thursday night outsideTraffic, a bar he owns in Manhattan.

Mr Gallagher is wanted at Dublin Circuit CriminalCourt to face charges on stealing three abstractpaintings from the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin.

He is also wanted for allegedly defraudingBryan Greene of Adams Auctioneers in Dublin byobtaining £9,000 (around €13,000) for the three paintings.

Assistant US attorney, Ms Lisa Treinis Gatz saidMr Gallagher will not be fighting the extradition and is willing to return to Ireland to face the charges. "We believe the matter will be dealt with very quicklyon that date," she said.

Mr Gallagher had contested prosecution claims that hehad fled justice in Ireland when he appeared in afederal court in Brooklyn last Friday.
