Champion jump jockey Tony McCoy was banned for seven days for careless riding on third-placed 7-4 favourite Gotno Destination in the closing race at Cheltenham today.

McCoy moved left entering the straight and hampered 100-1 outsider Millie's Fortune, who came down and unseated her rider.

The ban, which takes effect from January 12th, completed a frustrating start to the new year for McCoy who drew a blank from five mounts.

Riding honours went to arch-rival Ruby Walsh who completed a 329-1 treble with victories on Cornish Sett (5-1), My Will (4-1) and Le Duc (10-1). All three winners are trained by Paul Nicholls.

McCoy remains well clear in defence of his jockeys' title with 137 winners this season, ahead of Timmy Murphy on 91.
