A VILLAGE in Co Tyrone may lose its Celtic high cross

A VILLAGE in Co Tyrone may lose its Celtic high cross. Archaeologists have recommended the removal of the ancient monument from Donaghmore's main street as it is deteriorating rapidly due to air pollution. Mr Malcolm Fry, conservator of historic monuments with the North's Department of the Environment, attended a meeting in Donaghmore to discuss the removal of the ninth century cross. He recommended its replacement with a replica and said it should be placed in a building with a controlled atmosphere.
