Toulouse defender Bobo Balde is set to become the Celtic's first summer signing.

The player responded positively to the weekend deadline set by Hoops manager Martin O'Neill, rejecting advances from Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen.

But some details of the deal still need to be worked out today, with the player waiting for O'Neill to summon him to Glasgow.

Balde told The Scottish Daily Mail: "I am ready to fly to Glasgow as soon as I get the call - and this time to sign my contract with Celtic.

"Martin O'Neill convinced me to come to Scotland and I accepted his offer - with a counter-proposition."

The 25-year-old's £2.5 million sterling move is further complicated by the fact that his wife is about to give birth in France and his mother is ill back in Africa.

But the lure of the Champions League should be enough for O'Neill to sign the player on a five-year deal.
