Gardaí are investigating the death of a man who drowned today in a lake in Co Cavan.

Gardaí are investigating the death of a man who drowned today in a lake in Co Cavan.

The 36-year-old died after he went into the Trinity Lake in Killykeen at 10 a.m. to retrieve a ball his children had been playing with.

Divers from the Lough Ree Sub Aqua Club recovered his body an hour later.

The man was camping with his family near the lake, which is around five miles from his home in Cavan town.

His body was taken to Cavan General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
