Queues outside and "standing room only" inside the Carlton Cinema heralded the finals of the Carlton "Woman's Life" Bing Crosby Crooners' Contest. The winners were declared as follows: - 1st, John Keyes, 82 Capel street (5 gns.); 2nd, James Lea, 19 Victoria road, Clontarf (3 gns.), and 3rd, Tony Martin, 13 St. George's avenue, Clonliffe Road (2 gns.)

The judges were Mrs Mary MacSharry, of "Woman's Life"; Mr Dermot Kiely, of "Columbia Pictures," and Mr Thomas Gogan, general manager of the Carlton Cinema. Mr Desmond Rushton compered the show and Mrs MacSharry presented the prizes.

Little Maura Kearney was presented with boxes of chocolates for her dancing and singing by the Carlton management and Billy Gerrard's Band, which supplied the musical background and accompanied the crooners during the week of the contest.
