Zagreb - The late Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac of Yugoslavia will be beatified by Pope John Paul tomorrow in spite of claims that he collaborated with the Croatian fascist Ustashe organisation during the second World War.

Cardinal Stepinac was jailed by the communists in 1945 for alleged collusion in massacres and forced conversions. Catholic Croats, however, claim he saved the lives of many Jews and Serbs.
