Marlborough's trainer Nicky Henderson also has Bacchanal in the race and stable jockey Mick Fitzgerald has opted to ride the latter leaving the mount on Marlborough up for grabs.

Ruby Walsh rode Marlborough last time when the 10-year-old finished third behind his stable companion at Newbury but he appears likely to be on Commanche Court for his father, Ted.

Carberry rode Marlborough today in a piece of work at Nicky Henderson’s yard.

Marlborough is a best-priced 12-1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
