Racing:Arkle favourite Captain Cee Bee is due to have his final run before the Cheltenham Festival in Saturday's BBA Ireland Ltd Opera Hat Novice Chase at Naas.

Eddie Harty's Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner tipped up at the last when looking the likeliest winner of the Bord Na Mona Chase on his last start, leaving Sizing Europe to come home unchallenged.

Previously he had won a beginners chase at Naas from Zaarito - an impressive winner since - and An Cathaoir Mor, who subsequently landed the Irish Arkle.

Captain Cee Bee is one of 10 entries that also include Fosters Cross, Dancing Tornado and Major Finnegan.

Elsewhere today it was confirmed The Totewill sponsor one of Ireland's most historic races, the Galway Plate, for the next three years.

The race will now be called the www.thetote.com Galway Plate and will be worth €200,000.

Galway race committee chairman Tim Naughton said: “The Galway Race Committee are delighted that the Tote has agreed to sponsor Galway Plate Day at the Summer Festival Meeting for the next three years.

“The Tote has been sponsoring in Galway for the past number of years and their decision to sponsor the world famous Galway Plate is very welcome news to all of us.”

Alexis Murphy, chief executive of the Tote, said: “On behalf of the Tote, I am delighted to announce our sponsorship of Galway Plate Day, with the highlight being the historic and prestigious Galway Plate.

“Galway is the highlight of the racing season for the Tote with record pools typically set during the meeting.”

The Galway Plate takes place this year on Wednesday, July 28th.
