The use of cannabis by young people is higher in Northern Ireland than anywhere else in Europe, according to a new survey carried out by Queen’s University, Belfast.

The survey of 4,000 teenagers in 43 schools in the North found that almost one in 13 children in Northern Ireland had tried cannabis before the age of 12.

The study found that by the age of 12 years, 8 per cent of those questioned had used cannabis.
