Cannabis, cocaine worth over €12 million seized in Dublin

Gardai in Dublin last night seized about 1,000 kilos of cannabis with a street value of more than €12 million.

A number of firearms and a quantity of cocaine were also uncovered in the operation involving the National Drugs Unit and five units of the Garda Siochana.

The 32-year-old driver of the van has been arrested and is being detained in Clontarf Garda station.

The operation began at 11 p.m. when a van was stopped on the Clonshaugh Road in Pryor's Wood, Dublin. Approximately 500 kilos of cannabis was found in the van.

A further 500 kilos of cannabis was discovered in a follow-up search on a house in addition to a significant quantity of cocaine and several firearms.

The man is being held at Clontarf Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act.
