The Green Party has called for a total ban on Shell products until the demands of Nigeria's Ogoni people are met.
A statement from the party, following a meeting with the management of Shell Ireland, said the company had failed to explain the need for a joint partnership with a military regime which had been condemned by Amnesty International and other human rights organisations.
"Shell franchise holders should consider the moral questions that arise from selling a product supplied by a company which had links with civil, humanitarian and environmental abuses."
