The singer Butch Moore was buried yesterday after Requiem Mass in St Canice's church in Finglas, Dublin.

The singer Butch Moore was buried yesterday after Requiem Mass in St Canice's church in Finglas, Dublin.

Mr Moore, who was in his early 60s, died last Wednesday in his home in the US. In 1965, he became the first Irish contestant in the Eurovision Song Contest, singing Walking the Streets in the Rain. He came sixth.

Mr Moore is survived by his wife Maeve. He had six children by two marriages. Among the attendance yesterday was Paddy Cole, who played saxophone with the Capital Showband when Mr Moore was its lead singer.
