Aer Lingus has been named airline of the year in a survey of hundreds of Irish business travellers.

In the survey, which was conducted by MORI for the Chambers of Commerce of Ireland, 400 companies were asked to give their opinion on level of service by airlines on routes out of Ireland, value for money and airlines' on-line services.

Aer Lingus was named best overall airline and best transatlantic airline.

Ryanair won both the best online services and overall value for money awards, while Air France was named best airline for European and other routes.

The best airline for travelling to London was deemed to be bmi, while Aer Lingus was the best for other cities in Britain.

Shannon was named best Irish airport, while Kerry won the best regional airport category.

The awards were presented today by Minister for Transport Martin Cullen.
