Budget airline bmibaby announced a new route between Knock and Nottingham today in an expansion of its service which is expected to attract up to 150,000 passengers per annum.

The new route comes after bmibaby previously said it would begin a service between Knock and Manchester from the end of March.

Knock airport's chief executive ,Mr Liam Scollan, said the routes would exploit the footprints that exist between Ireland and Britain giving access to the Irish communities in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Sheffield.

Mr Scollan said he expects the two routes to bring 150,000 passengers per annum to and from the BMW region. The daily service to Nottingham will begin on April 30th.
