London - A man who made millions from one of Britain's largest prostitution rackets was warned yesterday that if £712,000 was not paid within 10 months a three-year sentence he is serving would be doubled.

Southwark Crown Court heard John Murray Smith, who is thought to have had up to 70 brothels in south-east England, paid cash for his £326,000 home. Apart from the £275,000 found in bank accounts under assumed names, police believe he spent the rest on a valuable collection of football programmes.
