The coach was carrying tourists to hotels in the nearby town of Mamaris after the holidaymakers had flown out of Manchester Airport overnight, the Foreign Office spokeswoman said.

The injured passengers were taken to hospitals in Mamaris and Mugla and those later released were taken on to a hotel on Mamaris, she added.

A spokeswoman added: "We understand the coach was in a collision with a car and a another coach near Koycegiz on the way to Marmaris.

"It is believed that the car driver and his passengers were also killed in the accident.
