A 12-year-old Tyrone boy who was severely brain damaged at birth was awarded substantial compensation in the High Court in Belfast yesterday. Aaron Simpson, from Rathmore, Cookstown, brought the action through his mother, Denise, who gave birth in the South Tyrone Hospital, Dungannon.
She sued the Southern Health Board which denied liability. Aaron suffers from severe cerebral palsy and requires constant nursing and care.
His case was settled out of court and the amount of damages was not disclosed.
