A 12-year-old boy is recovering in Wexford General Hospital having been rescued yesterday from the canal leading to the sea at Kilmore Quay.
An air and sea rescue operation got under way when the alarm was raised by locals visiting the Maritime Memorial Gardens close by.
It is thought the boy, who is from the area, was swimming in the canal when he got into difficulties.
