A five-year-old boy was abducted by a young woman while attending a GAA match with his family, the High Court in Belfast heard yesterday.
A prosecution lawyer said the boy was taken out of the ground at Maghera, Co Derry, and brought to a shed where he was punched in the face and fell to the ground.
The lawyer said the boy was brought back to his parents and told to say that he had been taken away by a "bad man" but had been rescued by Miss Roisin Mullan.
The incident happened in June 1994, but it was not until last month that Miss Mullan, a 20-year-old nursery care assistant, from Glen Road, Garvagh, was charged with abduction and assault and remanded in custody. She applied for bail yesterday.
Lord Justice MacDermott said it was an unusual and difficult case, but on balance he was prepared to release Miss
Mullan on bail of £1,200. But he warned her not to go within a mile of the boy's home or make any attempt to contact his family.
