Bowyer taken off Leeds transfer list

Leeds United midfielder Lee Bowyer has been taken off the transfer list, a club spokesman said this evening.

Leeds United midfielder Lee Bowyer has been taken off the transfer list, a club spokesman said this evening.

The move follows talks between the player and club officials following Leeds's decision to fine Bowyer four weeks' wages for breaking their code of conduct.

Leeds imposed the fine after Bowyer was cleared last Friday of all charges relating to an assault on a 19-year-old student in Leeds city centre in January 2000.

Bowyer, who was under the influence of alcohol on the night in question, initially refused to pay the fine, prompting the club to transfer-list him.

Bowyer will now be available to play in Leeds's match against premier league leaders Newcastle United on Saturday.
