Cape Town - A bomb exploded in a car parked at a busy shopping centre in a wealthy Cape Town suburb yesterday injuring two people, police said.

"A bomb exploded at 12.30 [10.30 p.m. Irish time] in the parking area of Constantia village shopping centre. A vehicle was destroyed in the blast," they said.

The Safety and Security Minister, Mr Steve Tshwete, said he believed the attack was linked to the arrest earlier yesterday of four members of Muslim vigilante group People Against Gangsterism and Drugs (PAGAD) on suspicion of attempted murder.
