Cork City 0 Bohemians 1
Bohemians have maintained their 100 per cent start to the season, the only team to do so, with an away win over Cork City at Turners Cross. The win puts Bohs two points clear at the top of the Premier division with the season just two games old.
The champions, who opened their defence with victory over Derry City last weekend, were made to sweat early on but a late Glen Crowe strike earned all three points for the Gypsies.
Cork had three first half penalty appeals waved away by referee John Feighery as they applied most of the pressure. But, having weathered the early storm, Pete Mahon’s Bohs side gradually came into the contest and went into the break on terms.
The winning goal came 15 minutes from time. Crowe, who hadn’t had many sights of goal until that point, received the ball just inside the Cork penalty area. Last season’s leading scorer placed his effort low and hard past Michael Devine in the City goal to give his side a lead they defended ably.
