A trawler searching for two men presumed drowned off the Co Cork coast is understood to have recovered a body.
The search is being hampered by poor visibility.
Earlier Navy divers joined the search near the beach where the two men were last sighted and some 15 teams of volunteers comprising over 100 people are conducting a shoreline search.
The LE Aoife was also on the scene.
A number of vessels - some equipped with radar - searched yesterday until efforts yesterday were called off at nightfall. The search is now concentrating on the shoreline between Glandore Harbour and Dirk Bay. It is expected to last until nightfall.
The pair entered the water at Owenahincha beach on Sunday to help a man and a woman who had got into difficulty while swimming.
Jonathan Herlihy (23), a student at UCC, and businessman Peter O'Keefe (37) were on the strand at 1.30pm when they noticed two people struggling in the water.
The men, who did not know each other, brought a lifebuoy into the water in an attempt to rescue the swimmers. However, it is believed they were overcome by high waves.
The man and woman, who are in their mid 20s, managed to get to the lifebuoy and make their way to safety at the scenic strand near Rosscarbery. They were being treated for shock last night.
The man is believed to be from England, and the woman from Co Kilkenny.
