A Garda spokesman said both men were pronounced dead at the scene, which was sealed off for a forensic examination.

Gardaí are refusing to speculate on how the two men may have died pending postmortem examinations which are expected to be carried out later today.

However they confirmed that there was no sign of forced entry at the house and that neither man had any visible sign of injuries.

It’s understood that the focus of the investigation is likely to look at examining whether the two men may have taken or ingested something which caused them them to die.

Gardaí are seeking to establish when the two men – one of whom they believe was visiting the rented house – were last seen alive.

They have identified the two men but are not releasing their names until all next of kin are notified but it’s understood that they may be from Waterford.
