New brands of alcoholic fruit drinks are to be scientifically analysed by the Western Health Board

New brands of alcoholic fruit drinks are to be scientifically analysed by the Western Health Board. The board's chief executive officer, Mr Eamonn Hannan, said the public analyst's laboratory attached to University College Hospital, Galway, had the capability to carry out such a study.

Mr Terry Leyden (FF) called for a ban on TV advertisements which "promote and glamorise alcohol consumption".
