The Monster Raving Loony Party kicked off its general election campaign by launching a blank manifesto.

The Monster Raving Loony Party kicked off its general election campaign by launching a blank manifesto.

The party's joint leader, Mr Alan Hope, who succeeded Screaming Lord Sutch on his death in June 1999, said he hoped it would make other parties sit up and think.

Mr Hope (58), a publican, is the first Loony to win public office as a councillor in Devon and said his aim was to earn enough votes to recover his deposit in the Aldershot constituency where he will stand on June 7th. The manifesto was co-launched by Cat Mandu, a four-year-old ginger and white cat and joint leader, at Loony HQ in Yately, Hampshire.
