Bishop Comiskey celebrates Easter Vigil in Enniscorthy

The Bishop of Ferns, Dr Brendan Comiskey has attended this evening’s Easter vigil at St Aidan's Cathedral in Enniscorthy

The Bishop of Ferns, Dr Brendan Comiskey has attended this evening’s Easter vigil at St Aidan's Cathedral in Enniscorthy. There was much speculation that he would not celebrate the Vigil after he did not appear for yesterday's Passion of Our Lord service at the Cathedral.

Dr Comiskey was criticised in a BBC programme by victims of sexual abuse perpetrated by the late Father Fortune. Fortune was a priest in the Bishop Comiskey’s Diocese of Ferns at the time of the abuse.

He did not appear for yesterday's Passion of Our Lord service at the Cathedral but was expected to make his first public appearance for six days this evening when was due to celebrates the Easter Vigil tonight at St Aidan's Cathedral in Enniscorthy.

Dr Comiskey has not commented since Wednesday of last week on the controversy surrounding his handling of complaints of sexual abuse made against the late Father Sean Fortune.
