A teenager has appeared in court following a shooting incident in West Belfast earlier this week.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The charge followed an incident in Thames Street in the Falls area on Monday.

Defence solicitor Mr Barra McGrory said the gun was an imitation weapon and a detective confirmed the defendant had been questioned about firing blank rounds.

Remanding the defendant in custody, the Youth Court magistrate said a forensic report on the weapon was required.
