A former Grand Prix driver was kicked several times during a robbery at his parents' home in Belfast last Tuesday week, Belfast High Court heard yesterday. Mr John Watson's 79-year-old mother and sister were also assaulted when three men broke into the house, said a Crown lawyer.

He was opposing a bail application by one of the alleged robbers, Mr Michael Patrick McGeown (39), from the Markets area, which was refused. The lawyer said Mr McGeown was arrested 700 yards away and recognised by a policeman as one of the gang.
