Bail for man accused of killing wife

A CORK man charged with murdering his wife was granted bail when he appeared before Bandon District Court yesterday.

A CORK man charged with murdering his wife was granted bail when he appeared before Bandon District Court yesterday.

Mr Joe O'Brien (47) had been in custody since being arrested and formally charged on Thursday evening with the murder of Mrs Julia O'Brien (45).

Mr O'Brien was granted bail on his own surety of £100 and two independent sureties of £5,000 each. He is to appear before the same court on August 16th.

Ms O'Brien died on Christmas Eve 1995 in her home at High Street, Drimoleague. Two of her sons, Kieran (20) and Noel (19), were charged last month with her murder.
