Two Iraqis were killed during a raid by US and British warplanes over southern Iraq last night, the official Iraqi News Agency reported.

"British and American planes bombed the village of Al-Ahrar in Zi Qar province" INA said today.

Reports from Washington said two military targets had been attacked in the south that provided command, control and communications support for Iraqi air defences.

Baghdad says a total of 356 people have been killed and more than 1,000 injured in US and British raids since December 1998.
