Eight people were presented with awards by Limerick Junior Chamber yesterday in recognition of outstanding contributions to the community. They were: Mr Ronan Tynan, tenor and medical practitioner, for personal improvement and accomplishment; Prof Declan Lyons, medical science department, University of Limerick, academic leadership; Ms Miriam Dawson, Southside Marching Band, for her contribution to children; Mr Andrew O'Byrne, for service in the area of community development; Mr Nigel Mercier, cultural achievement; Father Terry Loughran, for youth work; Mr Liam Grier, entrepreneurial accomplishment, and Mr Ollie Moran, captain of the Limerick hurling team.
