Avis Europe announced today it expects profits for the year to be in line with expectations.

The car rental company reported that overall billed days were ahead both of last year and of the company's expectations. Decreased rates of profit per day were experienced, however.

Avis said that increased fleet costs were anticipated, and that legislation is some areas was causing problems.

The company has recently francished its operations in the Canary islands, although the decision may lower profits this year by around €2 million.
