An avalanche killed two Czech men skiing in Slovakia's Velka Fatra mountains, the local news agency Tasr reported today.
The avalanche, in a valley near the central Slovak town of Martin, submerged three people but one of them, a woman, managed to crawl back to the surface.
The avalanche was triggered by a group of five Czechs who set out to ski but underestimated the snow conditions, Tasr cited rescuers as saying.
The Slovak Mountain Rescue Service issued a warning of a second-grade avalanche risk for todayon the international five-grade scale.
