Limerick's Longpavement dump will close from Saturday, and from next Monday all city refuse will be transferred to Limerick County Council dump at Gortnadroama, Newcastle West, Limerick Corporation has said. The Longpavement will now be used only as a station for transferring the refuse. Refuse transfer costs are estimated at £700,000 and almost £1 million for a full year. To continue operating at Longpavement, the corporation would have had to apply for an EPA licence before March 1st.
