Australia are not interested in arranging any warm-up matches ahead of their World Cup defence in October, coach Eddie Jones said today.

"We'll have had seven tests and then we've got a good five or six weeks leading into the World Cup," Jones said.

Australia's stance is in contrast to teams such as Ireland who play Wales, Scotland and Italy as part of their preparations.

Australia's Tri-nations campaign against the All Blacks and South Africa ends on August 16th with a test in Auckland. The Wallabies will then hold a training camp ahead of their opening World Cup match against Argentina on October 10th in Sydney.

World Cup-winning skipper of 1999 John Eales said: "I don't think they need to organise any trial games. They've got those weeks training and then have got four pool games in the World Cup before the quarter-finals and that should be enough."

But winger Ben Tune, who scored a try in the 1999 final against France, told reporters last month he felt Australia might be under-prepared.

"They should have weighed all that up but it would be nice to have a few games before the World Cup," said the 26-year-old, who has been ruled out of the tournament with a knee injury.
