Attempted armed robbery in Dublin foiled

Three armed men have attempted to rob a petrol station in Finglas in North Dublin.

The men entered the garage on the North Road shortly after 6 a.m. this morning but were interrupted by a nearby Garda patrol car which had been alerted to the incident.

The men fled the scene without taking any money. In a follow-up operation Gardaí arrested one man and recovered a firearm. The man is being held in Finglas Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
