The Association of Secondary School Teachers in Ireland (ASTI) is to provide training for second level teachers on dealing with suspicions and allegations of child abuse.

It has also called on the Department of Education to honour its commitment to introduce a child abuse prevention programme at post primary level. It described as "inexplicable" its four year delay.
