Arsenal are interested in signing Porto and Portigal midfielder Maniche, the player's agent has said.
Speculation continues to link Patrick Vieira with a move to Real Madrid, leaving Arsene Wenger with a large hole to fill in his line-up.
And Portuguese international Maniche, impressive at Euro 2004, is one player to have been linked with the English champions.
"Yes, I can confirm that Arsenal have shown their interest," said Paulo Barbosa.
Maniche was a surprise inclusion in Portugal's Euro 2004 squad - he had not been picked for nine months but an excellent performance for Porto in the 3-0 Champions League final win over Monaco saw him claim a spot.
Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari then picked him for the opening game with Greece and the midfielder had an outstanding tournament, scoring goals against Russia and Holland.
