A former army sergeant pleaded not guilty today at the Central Criminal Court to the murder of another man in County Meath last year.
Mr Tommy O'Brien (37), of Milltown Estate, Asbourne, Co Meath denies the murder of Mr Dermot McKeever (20) at the Milltown Estate on January 1, 2000.
He also pleaded not guilty to the discharge of a firearm on the same date which it is alleged created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to Mr Christopher Doran, also in Milltown Estate.
Mr O'Brien further denied the possession of a double-barrelled shotgun at the time with the intent to endanger life. A jury of seven women and five men was sworn in to try the case, which is expected to start on Thursday.
