Tbilisi - Regional authorities said yesterday they had regained full control of Georgia's second city of Kutaisi after a day-old mutiny by army troops, Georgian television reported.

The television quoted regional police as saying most of the mutinous troops had returned to base and their leader, Akaki Eliava, had fled with some of the soldiers. He faced charges of treason and a search for him was under way.
